Apparently, mentions of Oprah and/or iPhone skyrocket my blog’s traffic… when I posted Oprah’s tweet about her weave, traffic doubled! So here’s some shameless attempt to get more traffic…

OprahOprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!* Oprah loves the iPhone!*

*I have no idea if Oprah even has an iPhone, so this is my disclaimer. LOL!

Can you believe it?!  It has been 6 years since my first post on this blog… one that I’ve not always kept as up-to-date as I’d like, but definitely never abandoned. I think that calls for a mention. :-)   If you read through various entries over the years, you’ll see my writing has changed… evolved.  Where I’d once only written about the negatives, I now write a lot more about positives.  I find my writing to be more therapeutic now than what used to be ranting/complaining.   I look favorably towards the future of this blog and hope that it continues to grow and maybe someday… just maybe… become something noteworthy.

If you haven’t joined the bandwagon – you better get your ass in gear!  Twitter answers the simple question, “What are you doing?”  In under 140 characters, you can provide a quick answer that lets followers know where you are, what you’re watching, or what you’re interested in.  This video explains it pretty well.  It’s my latest addiction (albeit after a brief blogging stint LOL).  Everyone’s Tweeting these days… @britneyspears, @cnn, @appleinc, @starbucks.  It’s becoming an great, easy way to pass info that may not be enough to post on a full blog entry.

I’ll get to the reason behind the title of this post in a little bit, but first let me say – thank God 2008 is over with!  Done.  Finito.  Adios.  Goodbye!  I don’t say that because it was a ‘bad’ year, so to speak… but more a challenging one… as is every year that passes.  But these past two years I’ve found myself to be a stronger person after the year is over and for that I am thankful.  I’ve been somewhat MIA lately and through several reasons I will not bore anyone with – sufficient to say, I think I’m back… for now at least.

2008 was a fantastic year.  I’ve met so many new friends, but also lost some; had several great trips and vacations, and some that weren’t so great; but in the end, I’m thankful for every minute of every experience and grateful for what’s to come in 2009.  I am somewhat sad to have lost two relationships during the later months of the year but I feel it’s for the best.  The title refers to a comment made by the last person whom stopped talking to me because I stood up for myself and did not allow him to get away with speaking to me with disrespect – and when I called him on it, he obviously thought I was the one who was wrong.  The next day, he had deleted me from all social network sites, etc (which, for the record, I find hilarious that MySpace, or Facebook are your ‘official’ friend counters *rolls eyes* anyway).

This was the second ‘friend’ that had severed ties – the first of which I have put behind me and have promised not to dwell on it – which would involve retelling the story here.  Although it makes me sad to have lost friendships – I truly feel it was for the best.  I wish them both the best in their paths.

…is very aggrivating.  I have so much to say but when I sit down to write – my mind goes blank.  Maybe tomorrow… maybe.

My blogging took a little vacation since Election Season passed… I’ve been sort of taking some time from life.  I think every so often I need to just ‘disconnect’ from life and just be… without worrying about responsibilities.  I think everyone has to do that every now and then.  Hopefully I can get back in the swing of things! :-)   I’m flying back home to DC for Christmas and I think I booked it for too long (again) this year… but it will be nice to see friends and family again.  At least this time it won’t be for work.  :-)

And with that said – a new blog design. Some other changes: Anthony moved to New York yesterday, I’m sorta kinda possibly seeing a great guy, frequenting the new LVAC that’s less than 5 minutes away, and I’ve started working with a friend helping him keep his business organized.

Having some mixed feelings about Anthony moving away… he’d become a really good friend out here who I [slightly] depended on – someone I could talk to other than Mandy about practically anything. Now he’s on the other side of the country… 2,537 miles to be exact… and even though we have IM, Text Messaging, E-Mail, etc etc etc – it still sucks that one more person moved away that I’d become really good friends with. I think that’s something I’m going to have to get used to here. Las Vegas is a very transient city – much like DC – but I think it’s more so. A lot of people I know talk about moving away from here and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. But thankfully – that shell of introversion has chipped away and I find it much easier to make new friends here. I’m sure that’ll change when I eventually move away – but until then – I’m still enjoying Sin City. :-)

Sometimes there are clippets here and there that I feel like sharing, but don’t have a whole lot to really say about and almost feel as though it would be a waste of a blog entry to just link to something and give it a one-liner. So I think I may start a little thing going that I’ll categorize as “Seen On”. Usually while reading Towleroad, or VividBlurry, or various other blogs, I’ll see an article/posting that I enjoy and want to comment on, or just share. Similar to Towleroad fashion, I’m going to gather up several of these links, and post them in a single entry with whatever comments I may have. I’ll also be noting where I saw the post if on another blog.  Always nice to credit your sources! :)

  • Las Vegas’ Gay Community is somewhat different than that of DC. While DC has a very active Gay Community, here in Las Vegas, it’s just starting to grow.
  • Just stare at him long enough, and you’ll start drooling too!
Oct 17

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind – the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future. — Blog Action Day

Well shit… I forgot about that one… my bad… next year perhaps? I can’t think of anything to write about other than to save electricity and turn off the lights that you don’t need! Candle light is so much more attractive anyway. :)

Thanks Brian for the reminder… I’ll put a note in my calendar for 2008.
