Go to a retail location, and ask for them to submit a Network Incident Tracking ticket... every retail rep should know how to do this & try to supply as much info as possible about the location. Also check the Network Coverage Viewer on wireless.att.com. If it shows we have coverage, they'll follow up for sure. If I hear anything more about MMS and Tethering, I'll be sure to post it - provided it doesn't violate any NDA! :)

I have been waiting for the Microcell i keep calling, i just hope they dont think they can charge a monthly fee for that as well. Given the fact that it helps them more than anything, keeping traffic off of there towers. I have tried calling Customer Care with no luck, i work for a 500+ employee company who has Verizon. I just got the task of getting a cell tower placed out here, we are not in anyones coverage range, though it is hit and miss out here. I just don't understand why it would be so hard to get a hold of a senior engineer to come out here.

That is weird though i had MMS and Tethering both working fine till i upgraded to the GM yesterday and i had beta 5 on my phone I wish i could go back :) oh well i am sure all will be fine in the passing months.

The reason it was removed was due to issues with the APN... some messages were going through, some weren't - this is why in Beta 5 and the GM, MMS was removed. I can't speak to Tethering as I didn't load the Beta myself until Beta 5 when it had already been disabled; however, if I were to guess, I'd say it's because AT&T wants to wait until they have the rate plan in place for Tethering. As for the cost, LaptopConnect plans start at $60... the actual card itself are usually $50 or free w/ 2 year commitment. I would expect AT&T to add Tethering for an additional $30 a month which is inline with the other Tethering Plans for BlackBerrys, etc. This is still cheaper then getting the Laptop Card at $60/month.

As for the service, I would call into Customer Care (800-331-0500) or report the area to a retail (Company Owned) store. They can file a ticket/incident with the local network team to do a drive test to evaluate the area - especially if the coverage viewer shows service there. (Note for in-building coverage issues, I would suggest keeping an eye out for Femtocell which is set to be launched later this year.)

Question, why before the latest iphone GM update my MMS and tethering both worked just fine, now they don't. That tells me that Apple and AT&T both had there equipment working just fine. So someone changed something to take this off. 50 dollars for data and tethering seems a bit steep to me, when you can go get a usb data card for 49 and still use your phone. One last question, i live in the far NW of Washington state where i live and i work there is no AT&T server nor is there Verizon or anyone for that matter. Who do i talk with to get a site survey out here?

AT&T, being the largest GSM carrier in the US, has a lot more at stake with the changes to its network. AT&T carries the bulk of the iPhones in the world and this forced change to the network doesn't just affect those who own an iPhone, but every subscriber. Other carriers aren't as large and can implement changes to their smaller regional networks a lot faster than AT&T can - a company who has merged numerous different carrier networks into one. It's a change that requires a lot of testing to ensure the best possible experience from day one.

I will go out on a limb here and say I agree with you on this. I worked with an un-named GSM carrier for several years and I know how these device rumors can spin outta control.
However, do you know why AT&T, being the largest GSM carrier in the US, wasn't ready for this when many other carriers were?
