Tweet Tweet TWITTER!

If you haven't joined the bandwagon - you better get your ass in gear!  Twitter answers the simple question, "What are you doing?"  In under 140 characters, you can provide a quick answer that lets followers know where you are, what you're watching, or what you're interested in.  This video explains it pretty well.  It's my latest addiction (albeit after a brief blogging stint LOL).  Everyone's Tweeting these days... @britneyspears, @cnn, @appleinc, @starbucks.  It's becoming an great, easy way to pass info that may not be enough to post on a full blog entry.

My first Valentine… sort of…

ValentineI won't go into many details - I don't think it's quite appropriate here just yet... but I'm not quite sure what to make of it... I've been dating the boy for two months now and it feels like there are a few obstacles in the way.  I haven't dated someone in a while now (for OH so many reasons) and I'm slightly afraid/nervous/anxious/borderline paranoid... but I'm trying to take it as it comes and 'go with the flow'.  Maybe that's why I'm a little confused... haven't done this since I was 20.  He's a great guy and I definitely like spending time with him.  :)   We'll see how it goes.

New Contact for my Bum Eye (yes, just the one)

contact_lensThe last time I had an actual eye exam was somewhere around 10th grade... yes, I know... 9 years ago! (eek!)  I finally got off my lazy eye ass in gear and made an appointment.  First I was looking for a recommended Optometrist as I usually do with any physician.  I don't like just going to some random person.  I'd rather know that I'll be comfortable and in good hands.  Well, I had the name of an eye doc referred by Mandy and was all set to call and make an appointment.  Unfortunately, my Vision coverage changed this year and he's no longer covered under my policy... lovely.

Regardless, I asked the roommate and he suggested I visit the office inside the Lens Crafters at Fashion Show Mall.  Luckily, their schedule was pretty open and I was able to get an appointment today.  I showed up on time and filled out the new patient forms while chatting it up with the receptionist (who was on her 2nd day on the job, btw).  After I got a few questions answered, that was done and I had the tests that measure fluid pressure, and measure the eye and retina, etc.  Next was the exam to read the eye chart... the part I'd been anxious about.  Needless to say it's not as bad as I had feared, but not as well as I had hoped... my left eye is perfect so no correction is needed, but my right eye is about 20/60 or 20/70.  Given that I'm nearsighted, glasses will be out of question.  If I got glasses, they'd make my right eye look smaller due to the way the right lens would curve.  Since glasses won't be an option, it's contact for me... yea... just one.  I feel like an eye-amputee.  I can't see those silly 3D films (nothing pops out at me LOL) and now I'm only getting one contact.  HA!  At least I'll only have to pay 1/2 the price!! WOOHOO!!

I scheduled the next appointment for tomorrow, and I'm curious to see how well I do with my first contact insertion.  LOL!  My eye water just watching someone put in their contacts... I'm gonna need lots of tissues!!

It's about time!

eckharttollenewearthI finally finished reading A New Earth!  After getting mugged in DC and feeling so stressed out from it, I was able to calm down and finish this fantastic book and realized that I was completely identifying with the event.  I was a 'victim' - and all of my feelings and emotions were associated with that 'fact'.  Everytime I felt something, it was anger, and resentment, and a displeasment about having been in the wrong place at the wrong time - for not paying attention, for being a little too drunk, for not taking a cab.  After reading A New Earth I was able to reconfirm my belief in 'no regrets'... what's done is done and I learned from it.  I'm better for it.  I've learned to not walk home at 2 am alone.  I've learned to be more attentive of my surroundings.  I've learned that things can be replaced (albeit costly) and that things are just that - things.  Man makes things, and things do not make the man.  In a few months I'm going to revisit this book for a second read as there is so much to offer and learn that one time is just not enough.  I also went out and bought the prequel, The Power of Now and I'll be reading that after I finish a long procrastinated read of Getting Things Done.  I'm glad to get back into reading.  It's been a while since the written word has touched me.  I hope it'll give me inspiration to write more.  :)
