iUh Oh…

2.5 hours and counting... the US launch of the 3G iPhone hasn't gone as well as everyone had hoped. Previous software updates had never proved to be so difficult. The 2.0 launch has bricked countless iPhones so far and Apple is frantically trying to get things up and running again. The Apple Support Discussion Forums are filled with 'hate threats' most of which are rather disturbing to read. Surgeons who say they don't know their schedule now, Lawyers claiming they're going to lose "thousands of dollars in business". It never ceases to amaze me how people love a company "unconditionally" yet at the sign of a problem, they're so quick to write hateful posts on support forums about the company and how they don't care about their customers.

Here's a thought, perhaps you should have waited to update until later on in the evening when you didn't have to be somewhere important like an O.R. or courtroom. I will agree with one post though - Apple should definitely have release the 2.0 Software update to those who have the 1st Generation iPhone. This probably (in my opinion) would have prevented such a large bottle-necking of people activating the new devices and updating existing ones.

As for me - my iPhone is stuck at "Restoring iPhone Software" just like it did on the 1.1.4 upgrade. I probably shouldn't jailbreak it next time... I'm thinking that might have been my issue. Looks like I'll be going back to my BlackBerry for today so that I can get some work done.
