I'm Gay – Therefore I Can Build Things
What a great improvement! Who knew a ceiling fan could provide such air circulation?! (Kidding - I knew that - really I did) This past Sunday I finally decided to put in the ceiling fan that my roommate had bought for my room - and after it was installed, I realized I should had done it quite some time ago. Not only do I get more light in my room, and it looks a hell of a lot better than the single bulb dome thingie that was there before; but it cuts down on the heat that loves to make camp in my room. Next improvement - curtains!

Somebody better get iFired
iFINALLY! After 15.75 hours (yes - HOURS), my iPhone is now running 2.0. I'm finally enjoying the Application Store and other enhancements along with the rest of the world - except - just as I suspected - no MMS. Damnit Jobs - what's your issue? I challenge anyone to make an MMS App for the iPhone ASAP. It doesn't have to be pretty - just be able to send/receive and save MMS photos. Really. That's all. The iPhone is the only device that we carry that does not have MMS. Even NON-CAMERA PHONES have MMS. I digress...
Christine and Courtney from Apple spend 2 hours and 42 minutes with me trying to get my phone unbricked from the doom of the 2.0 iCatastrophe that was Friday. Uninstalled iTunes and all it's partners in crime on my PC twice - but still it wouldn't complete the restore to save it's life. Long story short - after borrowing my roommate's laptop - the restore went through - and I was then able to sync with my laptop and get everything back on it. I know one thing - I'm definitely not jailbreaking my phone again... I think that's what has caused a lot of the problems... that and the idiot who signed off on launching 3 product launches (iTunes 7.7, 3G iPhone, 2.0 Software Update/App Store) in one day. No wonder their servers crashed. Lets hope the next update will go smoothly... and that it has frickin' MMS!
(Definitely not holding my breath on that one tho!)
iUh Oh…
2.5 hours and counting... the US launch of the 3G iPhone hasn't gone as well as everyone had hoped. Previous software updates had never proved to be so difficult. The 2.0 launch has bricked countless iPhones so far and Apple is frantically trying to get things up and running again. The Apple Support Discussion Forums are filled with 'hate threats' most of which are rather disturbing to read. Surgeons who say they don't know their schedule now, Lawyers claiming they're going to lose "thousands of dollars in business". It never ceases to amaze me how people love a company "unconditionally" yet at the sign of a problem, they're so quick to write hateful posts on support forums about the company and how they don't care about their customers.
Here's a thought, perhaps you should have waited to update until later on in the evening when you didn't have to be somewhere important like an O.R. or courtroom. I will agree with one post though - Apple should definitely have release the 2.0 Software update to those who have the 1st Generation iPhone. This probably (in my opinion) would have prevented such a large bottle-necking of people activating the new devices and updating existing ones.
As for me - my iPhone is stuck at "Restoring iPhone Software" just like it did on the 1.1.4 upgrade. I probably shouldn't jailbreak it next time... I'm thinking that might have been my issue. Looks like I'll be going back to my BlackBerry for today so that I can get some work done.
iCome On Already!

iWaiting... and more iWaiting... I was up a bit late tonight, catching up on work e-mails, watching some TV, laundry... when I noticed that my laptop had alerted me to the iTunes 7.7 update. And as soon as I saw it, I immediately thought - "ITS HERE!". So I jumped on and installed the update... which took a little longer than I expected, but nonetheless, it installed. I launched iTunes, synced... and was greeted with... nothing. The sync completed and my [2G] iPhone returned to it's charging state. No alert. No, "your iPhone software needs to be updated" - nothing. So I clicked on "Check for Update"... and what appears... "This version of the iPhone software (1.1.4) is the current version."
What are they waiting for?!?!?! Release it already!!!!
Gettin' Gayer by the Ad
Paris' new advert targeting the gay & lesbian (there's a queen card version as well) demographic. The ad is definitely a well thought out and designed. This one was on the back of the Ribbon of Life show guide. So now, I live in a town which HRC gives them props and work for a company which HRC also recognizes as being the most GLBT friendly. I'm glad to see Vegas is slowly but surely embrasing the gays.
iPhone 3G Plans Announced
If you've been waiting for AT&T to release the new plans for the 3G iPhone - your wait is over. Today the rate plans are now posted online:

Also posted were the "Text" Messaging plans... which is looking more and more like Apple will continue to stay away from MMS and push more and more towards sending/receiving pictures via e-mail.

I'm crossing my fingers that someone will develop an MMS Applciation that'll be available on the App Store... crossing fingers... but definitely not holding my breath. It just doesn't makes sense that AT&T wouldn't push for it considering it generates revenue!
