That was it?
While I wasn’t expecting something like DC Pride, I was still disappointed by Las Vegas’ Gay Pride Parade and Festival. The parade was held at night in downtown Las Vegas by Fremont Street. I expected it to be
somewhere a bit less ‘out of the way’ but the Bible-thumping protesters were still able to make it carrying their huge “you’re going to hell” and “God hates fags” signs. It never ceases to amaze me that they’d come to “Sin City” with such ignorance and down right arrogance. I’d seen the same groups actually on the strip waving their signs and screaming scriptures through bullhorns forcing their beliefs that because people come to a city to relax, see a show, eat great food, and socialize with fun people, it is a sin. In any case, Clif had a fun time yelling back at them - amidst my awkwardness and just wanting to get away from them. It was enjoyable - but the “floats” just didn’t compare to DC. I think next year I should make a suggestion that to be eligible to enter the parade, you can’t just drive a convertible and sit in the backseat. At least I saw Roseanne Bar who was in the parade supporting gay rights. Add that one to the list of celebs seen in Sin City. :-)
The festival was nice - except for the fact that I had to pay $10 to get in which I wasn’t expecting. Hopefully it went to something important and not just someone’s pocket. The weather held out and it was a gorgeous day. I didn’t take too many pics, but I did upload the ones I took to Flickr. Enjoy boys and girls.
